The sixth edition of the Cruce del Istmo is just around the corner this October 15

The most anticipated MTB/XCO and gravel event of the year is here. The Isthmus Crossing will carry out its sixth edition this coming weekend, crossing Panama along mountainous trails, full of the exuberant vegetation and biodiversity that characterizes our country, to complete 120 kilometers (including the 10 km of the crossing to Gatun Lake).

Crossing the Isthmus of Panama from the Atlantic Ocean in the province of Colón to the Pacific Ocean in Veracruz has become a unique experience for fans of mountain biking, outdoor adventures and nature.

Cyclists from 13 countries on the American continent and Europe have already confirmed their participation and will be arriving on Panamanian soil in the coming days. This represents a great contribution to the national economy, mainly for the tourism sector, since the hotel industry and other businesses will benefit from the arrival of around 120 riders from Colombia, Costa Rica, Belgium, the United States, and Puerto Rico. , Dominican Republic, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Papua New Guinea.

The Isthmus Crossing will begin at 6:15 a.m. from the Shelter Bay Marina in the direction of Escobal, from where Gatun Lake will be crossed in canoes, one of the iconic moments of this event, considered one of the toughest and most respected in the region. The journey through the vicinity of the Panama Canal, the eighth wonder of the world, makes this event unique in its branch.

The finish line will be in Veracruz, at Pacific SUP Academy, a stage that will welcome each of the participants with a great sports party.

Like any event focused on the integrity of the athletes, a large number of volunteers have been available in addition to the security forces, who will ensure that each of the riders reaches the finish line safely, or assist them throughout the process. tour through the various points spread over the 120 kilometers of the Isthmus Crossing.

 

For this edition there will be a total of six categories, divided as follows:

The RIU Plaza will once again be the host hotel where the Expo (Bici Market) will take place, on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
